Our Verdict:
Plasma TVs like the Samsung PN50B860 definitely overshadow the LED and LCD types when it comes to picture quality. Its features are on the higher end such as the .001 millisecond refresh rate and 600Hz subfield motion. Glares are also virtually nil with the PN50B860 Ultra FilterBright Plus feature which maximizes the transmission of internal light onto the screen. Plasma TV displays also offer better viewing angles of up to 160 degrees (top to bottom and left to right) -- much better than LCD displays. This allows a larger number of viewers to enjoy proper image reproduction from a wider variety of locations throughout the room. Except for the reported buzzing sound on plasmas, all other features of high end LEDs are also found in the Samsung plasma, so if you have the budget to get one, go for a plasma. |

Customer Feedback-
"I did a lot of research before I purchased a Samsung PN50B860. And I am totally pleased with the purchase! The picture is out of this world. I kept debating between the crisp pictures of a quality LCD or the motion handling of a plasma. Because I like sports and action movies, I had pretty much decided on the PN50B550 when I saw the right price. But I went into the store and saw the PN50B860 right next to it, and could obviously see the difference." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "Great Price, Great Picture. Had Buzzing sound . Called Samsung out. They said that it was "normal". I told them about the other negative complaints about this issue. They said my model number was not affected by the buzzing. It is B.S. I still love the T.V. though. If you have sensitive ears like me. You are going to hear it at low volume levels. Other than that it is awesome." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "This TV looks terrific. It is an utterly amazing 1.2 inches thin, with a classy base, and it swivels. The swivel was one of the main reasons I bought this TV, as it makes it easy to turn it to view from adjoining rooms." - Actual User Review - Shopping.com "I'll keep it brief, but this TV is awesome! Spectacular picture, beautiful design, great features. The only downside to this TV that I see is that it's a plasma and I have burn-in anxiety. From everything I have read, it's a non issue unless you're running stock tickers 24-7 or some other static image, but that would burn in on any LCD or CRT after a period of time without proper safeguards. Sound is fairly good, given the physical limitations of the speaker size, but a TV this big deserves a good Home Theatre system." - Actual User Review - Tigerdirect.com |
